Louisiana Opioid Abatement Task Force

The Louisiana State-Local Government Opioid Litigation Memorandum of Understanding created the Opioid Abatement Task Force to advise the Attorney General, the Sheriffs, and the Parishes and Municipalities on the priorities that should be addressed as part of the opioid epidemic and to review how monies have been spent and the results that have been achieved with Louisiana’s opioid settlement funds. The Task Force consists of five (5) members: The Louisiana Municipal Association (one member), The Policy Jury Association (one member), the Louisiana Sheriff’s Association (one member), The Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Public Health or his/her designee (one member), and the Governor shall appoint one member who is a licensed SAMSHA provider.

ALLOCATIONS

1. The MOU establishes parish-by-parish fund percentages, based on national “Negotiation Class Metrics”
2. Parishes receive 80% of the opioid settlement proceeds
3. Sheriffs receive 20% of the opioid settlement proceeds
